Why does it seem almost cynical to give someone well wishes even though it’s supposed to be sincere? “Congratulations on graduating!” - As if you doubt they’d graduate. “Good luck for the future!” - As if their future depends solely on luck. “Get home safe!” - As if they won’t get home safe.
